The idea to found the Kyrö distillery was hatched by five friends – and a bottle of rye whiskey – in a sauna. They wondered why there were no distilleries in Finland making rye whiskey. After all, the official national dish is rye bread, and the Finns drink six times more rye whiskey than the global average. Most new distilleries release a gin to generate revenue as their whiskies age and mature. But when their first gin was entered into the IWSC in 2015 it won the Best G&T Trophy. Crisp, herbaceous and wonderfully full bodied, Napue is flavoured with locally sourced botanicals.
