Every year, this magnificent classic Tuscan Sangiovese is awarded very high scores, two 95s in 2017. The estate was established in the 1950s when adjoining estates ‘Isole’ and ‘Olena’ were purchased by the de Marchi family, from Piedmont. For 30 years now it has been in the capable hands of Paolo de Marchi – a pioneer in the region for being the first to grow Syrah and in his research for the finest Sangiovese clone. A third generation winemaker, Paolo's great attention to detail has resulted in the Isole e Olena estate’s worldwide reputation. Aged mainly in French oak, this wine is beautifully rich and supple. Decant an hour in advance and serve with Italian classics such as bistecca alla Fiorentina.
