Bardolino is a less well known appellation of NE Italy, next door to Valpolicella. Both make fresh wines of all hues, thanks partly to the proximity of the mountains. This is a star pink from Cantine Delibori, which was founded 40 years ago by friends Walter Delibori and Giorgio Cristoforetti, close to Lake Garda. The name of this rosato is a celebration of the oenologist Arianna's dream to be a winemaker in her beloved homeland in northeast Italy. It uses the classic varieties of this area – Corvina and Rondinella (the same as in Valpolicella) – the juice left on the skins for just a few hours to lend a delicate hue to the wine. With delicate floral aromas, it offers cherry fruit, citrus and a crisp mineral finish. Your sundown aperitivo.
