Ernie and Jane Hunter were the first to put New Zealand on the world wine map. That was with Sauvignon Blanc from the little vineyard beside their winery – the Home Block. When first shown outside New Zealand at our 1986 London Vintage Festival, their 1985 simply astonished customers and experts alike. It won every award going, sparked New Zealand newspaper headlines and a debate in the NZ parliament! The country suddenly realised it had an extraordinary wine to offer the world. Hunter's today remains family owned, but has extended well beyond the Home Block. This special release, however, is all Sauvignon from the original vineyard. 10% barrel aged and with 3 months' lees ageing, the wine sings with fruit finesse. A great seafood white.
