Prohibition put an end to small-batch distilling in New York State, but Tuthilltown Distillery have resurrected the tradition with an award winning range of whiskeys. They’re a very hands-on operation, hand-picking their corn and sourcing 90% of their raw materials within 10 miles of the distillery. Ralph Erenzo purchased the Tuthilltown Gristmill in the Hudson Valley in 2001 and gradually converted two granaries into a distillery. He and Brian Lee learned the art of distilling on the job, fine-tuning their skills. In 2010 they were rewarded with ‘Best Artisan Distiller’ by the American Distilling Institute. From grain to glass, they take great care and pride in their Baby Bourbon, a pure corn whiskey, aged in charred American oak barrels.
