Hail lovers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's great wines! Here's a new star. Hommage à Duèze is named after the 14th century Pope, Jacques Duèze, who served from 1316 to 1334 as Pope John XXII. Such was his love for the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, he called them “the Pope’s wine”. This led to the region’s name and its wines became highly sought all over Europe. Today the appellation's wines are equally adored for their richness, warm, ripe fruit and power. This traditional-style Châteauneuf-du-Pape comes from the third-generation Gaillard family. Largely Grenache, it offers lots of luscious raspberry fruit, subtle spices and wild herbs, with an edge of freshness. Decant early and serve with hearty dishes such as roast lamb or mature hard cheeses.
