One of Piedmont’s finest family estates is that of Aldo Vajra – a traditionalist who makes outstanding Barolo, Dolcetto and Barbera amongst his reds. Aldo prides himself on the elegance and complexity of his wines, clear from the superb quality of Costa di Rose and its wonderful layers of perfumed flowers and delicate, yet intense and vivacious fruit notes. All the grapes come from a small 1.5 hectare parcel within Barolo's fine Costa di Rose cru. Its particularly sandy soils lend the wine elegance and textural depth. With intricate floral hints of rose, honeysuckle, violet and jasmine, and juicy fruit notes of cherry and cranberry, this red is mesmirising. Made in very tiny quantities, this red will be snapped up. Open early and decant.
