Fox Run Doyle Chardonnay 2017

Finger Lakes

From a young US winery named among the Top 100 in the World by Wine & Spirits magazine, this is super-fresh, unwooded Chardonnay. Despite its multi Gold success, the estate has stayed small. This bright white has refreshing melon and citrus vitality.

Fox Run is an exciting winery in New York State’s Finger Lakes – a wine region that would be far too cold for the usual Vitis vinifera vines if the many lakes there didn’t moderate temperatures. Seneca Lake is the one closest to Fox Run, established just in 1989 at a century-old dairy farm. It can boast Golds and Trophies since its 1990 launch vintage. Today it’s in the hands of Scott and Ruth Osborn, helped by Ruth’s sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Albert Zafonte. Peter Bell has been senior winemaker since day one, while John Kaiser manages the vineyards and both are very knowledgeable. This is pure, unwooded Chardonnay – lemony fresh with bright melon fruit. Tasty as a glass solo, it works well with creamy pasta and chicken dishes.

"This is super cool-climate Chardonnay, unwooded too, so zesty lemon fresh and crisp" Clare Tooley
