Fleur du Mistral Rosé 2018

Méditerranée IGP

We’ve championed the lost wines of the Ardèche for 30 years now. The vineyards lie just west of the southern Rhône and produce a deliciously quaffable style of wine. From our long-time friend Luc Tallaron, this is bright with herbal berry freshness.

Lying between the craggy Cévennes mountains and the Rhône and Ardèche rivers, the Ardèche is well situated to make ripe, yet fresh, fruit forward wines. The only surprise is that this region’s wines remain so little discovered. Maybe it’s something to do with the precipitously steep gorges and unnervingly windy roads, which take a long time to travel. Our friendship with the Valvignères cellar dates back to 1988, when Tony Laithwaite knocked on the door and requested a tasting. He was impressed. Luc Tallaron was the young winemaker, still is, a well travelled one at that having made wine in Chile, Bordeaux and Venezuela! His rosé is a blend of native grapes, cool fermented for fruity freshness. Delicious solo; versatile with food.

"The Ardèche is a wonderland of fruity, fresh wines of real authenticity. They’re top value too" Jehan Sacaze
