Superb 17-point Cornas from the Ferraton estate. Chapoutier-run since 2004, this domaine's wines are "all extremely high quality" (Jeb Dunnock) and Cornas is a speciality. A fine red with rich, velvety fruit, "an opulent, satisfying style" (AC).

Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been a highly regarded estate. Yet since the Chapoutiers have come on board quality has rocketed. The Ferraton family started working with Michel Chapoutier in 1998, the latter buying the estate outright in 2004, but running it very much as an independent concern, with the family still at the helm. Wine Advocate wrote, "The two lieux-dites from Cornas, Patou and Les Eygats, are among the firm's best wines." Add in the 5-Star quality of the 2019 vintage and grapes produced to the highest biodynamic standards, and you’ll understand the sumptuous richness you can look forward to. Patou is a superb red, barrel-aged for over a year. "Powerful, enjoyable and hedonistic", it's best decanted early.

"Bags of dark fruit and a subtle savoury undertone. Powerful, enjoyable and hedonistic" Alastair Cooper MW
