For fruit, character and value, it’s difficult to beat Eden Grove. This tasty Shiraz is from the Idyll winery in Victoria's Moorabool Valley. The Costa family have been winemaking in Europe since the early 1700s. However, in the late 1800s, when phylloxera struck, the patriarch of the family was forced to try his luck in Australia. He only stayed a few years, but that left a family link. Fast forward to 2016, the family took ownership of Idyll Winery. Winemaker there today is Toby Wanklyn. He knows just where to get the best fruit. In this Shiraz, he chose grapes from right across SE Australia. Enjoy the juicy ripe fruit of this red on its own, at a barbecue or with weekday suppers of sausages, shepherds pie (veggie or not) and the like.
