This fine estate was founded in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger, who planted vineyards on the slopes above the village of Guebwiller. Ever respectful of the past and mindful of the future, the 6th and 7th generations now run the estate. Over its 200 year history, Schlumberger has grown to be one of France's finest properties. It has extensive holdings – 180 hectares of vines, with an 80% share in three of Alsace's greatest Grand Cru sites – Kessler, Kitterlé and Saering. In recent years, they have converted to organic viticulture, with an eye to biodynamic practices too. From the fine 2017 vintage, this Riesling is taut and citrusy with bright apple crunch. Hide away a while if you can. It will reward your patience. Deserves finest seafood.

"Cinnamon, white pepper, green paprika, green apples and citrus. Very taut and citrusy" James Suckling
