Domaine du Tunnel Cornas 'Vin Noir' 2019

Cornas AOC

From a small appellation of the northern Rhône and one of its very finest domaines comes this top vintage Cornas. Using grapes from 15 parcels of mature vines, the wine weaves notes of pepper and liquorice with powerful smoky black fruit and spice.

Since Stéphane Robert and his wife Sandrine founded their domaine in 1994 they have attracted enormous praise from the likes of Decanter, Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate. The 10 hectare property stretches across three prestigious appellations – Cornas, Saint Joseph and Saint Péray – and their wines have become reference points for all three. Stunning complexity, richness, power and intensity are apparent in every wine. Perhaps that should be of no surprise, when Stéphane was an apprentice at the renowned Domaine Jean-Louis Grippat. He obviously has very natural talent too. Blending 15 parcels of old vines grapes from this tiny region and ageing in seasoned barrels for 14 months, this is long, complex, powerful red that'll reward cellaring.
