Bordeaux is not the only place in France making tasty Cabernet Merlot. Plus, if you like a little added ripeness, intensity and value for money, you simply must try this. Domaine de la Chapelle caught our Buyer’s eye for all these reasons and more. It's never hit UK shores before either. The wine comes from vines surrounding La Chapelle Saint Jean in Gignac, one of many chapels that lined the once famous pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela. It just so happens that the limestone and clay soil in these parts is ideal for growing highly concentrated Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This beautifully made wine with ripe berry and tobacco notes is gorgeous paired with grilled lamb and ratatouille, or simply charcuterie, cheese and crusty bread.
