Fabulous rich, 96-pt red from the Languedoc's premium Pézenas. Such is the quality of this area, the estate was purchased first by the owner of renowned Clos du Val, then by Bordeaux's François Lurton. Intense, ripe, peppery fruit with savoury spice.

Quality in France's Languedoc has risen exponentially as new cru areas are recognised and some of the world's top names invest there. This intensely flavoured, peppery red comes from the 'cru' of Pézenas, with its 320 days of sunshine, gentle winds from the Montagne Noire and unique basalt soil. It was this exciting potential that attracted the owner of Napa's world-famous Clos du Val, John Goelet, in 1998. He purchased it and started making wines that could stand up to the best in the world. In 2018, Bordeaux's renowned François Lurton took control. This is a rich blend of local varieties Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache, part aged in barrel. A lovely balance of ripe fruit and savoury black olive notes, it's terrific with rich meat dishes.

"Aromas of black fruit, ash, mocha and spices. Spicy, herbal character. Vibrant, crunchy finish" James Suckling
