This delicious, single estate cuvée is from an award winning, fifth generation family domaine. It’s so small the grapes are sent to the local village cellar, where winemaker François Poirer carefully vinifies this intense, elegant Pouilly. Partially fermented in expensive French oak barriques from the local Bertranges forest, this lovely wine shows all the classic complexity fans of Pouilly Fumé look for – lemon curd and herbaceous notes edged with a distinctive gun-flint note. And like most parts of France, 2018 was a spectacular vintage, bestowing happy vignerons with an early, abundant harvest of perfectly ripe fruit. Traditionally this fine white would be served with Crottin de Chavignol, the local goat’s cheese, or with seafood.
