Chat with Vinny
It’s surprising that a winemaker as consistently brilliant as Yann Chave could've managed to fly under the radar for so long. But the word is out. His magnificent 94-point Hermitage 2016 is layered with nuanced flavours of fruit, herbs and spice.

Yann Chave is hot property. His wines are listed by all top Michelin starred French chefs, Bocuse, Ducasse and Troisgros among them. Critic Jeb Dunnock described them as "all loaded with character and highly recommended." We’re delighted with this impressive 2016 Hermitage, with its haunting nose of liquorice and violets, and swathes of cherry compote and cracked pepper. Yann's parents founded the estate in 1970, first selling to the co-op, until in 1978 they started making the wine themselves. Yann joined them in 1996, converting to organic viticulture in 2000. Crafted from old vine Syrah and gently vinified with wild yeast, it was aged a year in oak. A very fine red now or in years to come – a great match with lamb and favoured guests!
