Jokingly describing himself as a 'lazy winemaker', Romain Taupenot orchestrates the work of the small family domaine (13 hectares) with his sister Virginie. Using organic practices, the dedicated siblings produce 19 different wines across 17 appellations with many being Premier or Grand Cru. Now the 8th generation to take charge, Romain remembers fondly helping his grandfather in the vineyard and cellar, then selling the wine along the route national (how times change). In truth Romain is anything but lazy. His priority is hard work in the vineyard, so only a light hand is required in the cellar. One of the first vineyards he planted, this Grand Cru lies close to Romain's heart. The 2017 is remarkably long and complex. Will age superbly.
