More information
The cru village of Vacqueyras lies close to Châteauneuf-du-Pape and produces sensational wines at a more affordable price. Only a tiny amount is white though, which makes this glorious, top-vintage, mineral-laced white even more special. Domaine Montirius is a small, highly acclaimed, fifth-generation estate run by Christine and Eric Saurel. Here they use all native varieties from 30-year-old vines and crop at very small yields. They follow biodynamic principles (even more rigorous than organic) to ensure absolute purity of fruit and expression of the terroir. The vineyards teem with flora and fauna and there is no denying the wine tastes remarkable. Bourboulenc, Grenache and Roussanne carefully fermented with natural yeasts and zero oak.
