World renowned critic Jancis Robinson said that Bordeaux 2011 whites had “real energy and excitement – the sure fire successes of the vintage”. It was a year when white wines totally stole the spotlight from the reds. And the finest Bordeaux appellation for whites is Pessac-Léognan, home of course to Premier Grand Cru Château Haut Brion. Here white wines are taken seriously. Winemaker José Rodrigues-Lalande had just a few cases of his 2011 left in the cellar and was keen to clear space, hence the excellent price. Made from Bordeaux's four white grapes, Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, spicy Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle, this is real, top-tier dinner party stuff. Oak aged, it will be perfect with your finest sauced fish and white meats.

"A Pessac-Léognan playing the card of elegance!" José Rodrigues-Lalande
