Such is the wine quality from this tremendous estate, that a number of the wines age for a decade or more. This Vieilles Vignes 2017, from "an exceptionally good vintage" (Jancis Robinson MW), is just coming into its prime, two years after its 'birth'. It's from Jean-Max Roger, who took over the family’s 17th century domaine in 1970 and set about modernising it. He gained a reputation as being ahead of his time – the first to grass over vineyards and green harvest in 1991 – always striving to improve quality. Decanter rated him among the very best producers. Using prime Bué vineyards, some with caillottes and some with marl soils for complexity, naturally fermented and long aged on lees, this is full, rich and complex. Drink now or cellar.
