Chat with Vinny

Domaine Jean Chartron Savigny-lès-Beaune ‘Théologique, Nourrisant et Morbifuge’ 2018

Savigny-lès-Beaune AOP

With 90 points and high praise from Wine Advocate, this is a rare chance to buy white Savigny. It's from an excellent 5th generation family estate too and a great vintage. Ripe pear, peach and toasted nuts underscored by its bright minerality. Class.

Domaine Jean Chartron has been steadily building their reputation for excellent Burgundy since they were first established in 1859. The family can boast 14 hectares of vineyard, many of them in Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites. Jean Michel is in charge today and critics have noticed the big steps up in quality he's made. “A producer that is improving with every passing vintage," said Neal Martin. Luckily the prices of the wines haven't yet caught up and they remain reasonable value. This is a fine white Burgundy using his Les Pimentiers vineyard fruit and three other parcels, all in Savigny Lès Beaune in the south of Côte de Beaune. With gentle oak and some malolactic fermentation to add breadth and creamy richness, this is an elegant wine.

"Aromas of pear, pastry cream and fresh peach. It's charming and lively, with a pretty core of fruit" William Kelley
