Domaine Confuron-Gindre Vosne-Romanée 2017

Vosne-Romanee AOC

For six generations the Confuron family have worked the fine vineyards of Burgundy. Despite Clive Coates MW urging someone to "snap them up" in 2008, they still remain under the radar. Enjoy then their rich, well polished, fruit laden Vosne Romanée.

Vosne Romanée is the Côte de Nuits brightest star, producing some of the world's finest, most expensive Pinot Noir. They boast an extraordinary intensity of fruit, combining power with finesse. The Confuron family have been tending their tiny plots of vines for six generations. Just this village Vosne Romanée comprises fruit from 10 parcels of vines within the village, adding up to a mere 2.37 hectares! These are old vines, 30 to 70 years age, which adds to the concentration. Vines and their terroir are king here, and François Confuron works hard in the vineyard, then gently treats the wine in his small cellar. 18 months in part new oak casks gives this magnificent wine structure and a whisper of spice to balance the fruit and freshness.

"Characterful cherry and blackberry fruit with a zippy acidic freshness on the finish. Expressive" Jancis Robinson MW
