Domaine Chofflet’s Clos Jus is a thrilling find for any Burgundy lover. Why? Because its charming balance of fruit, complexity and undeniable quality is accompanied by a moderate price tag. Decanter magazine has tipped them as one of Givry’s leading cellars. The talent behind this great Pinot Noir is Denis Valdenaire, who, for over 20 years now, has followed sustainable methods in the vineyard. He prunes back hard to restrict yields, even in Clos Jus where yields are naturally very low. In the cellar, he gently presses the grapes and ages this wine for 14 months in seasoned oak barrels. So, the wine has superb intensity, a juiciness to the fruit and the oak is sweetly spiced, but not dominant. Ideal with duck or wild mushroom risotto.
