Meet Dog Point – an outstanding, award-winning range of just four wines from New Zealand’s Marlborough. In 2004 Ivan Sutherland and James Healy decided to take the skills they’d learnt as viticulturalist and winemaker at Cloudy Bay and set up on their own. They had a head start as Ivan had planted vineyards in Marlborough in the 1970s, and in just 12 years their wine label has became iconic. Dog Point remains very much owned by the two families – a boutique winery, producing outstanding quality, as naturally as possible. Using indigenous yeasts from hand-picked fruit, this wine is meticulously made, with fermentation and ageing for 18 months in French oak. Open early and serve with creamy chicken or fish. Drink over the next decade!
