Vallis Arcus 2018

Côtes du Rhône AOP

Delightful crunchy ripe black fruit with a gentle weave of herbal spice in this new-release Côtes du Rhône from our old friend Luc Tallaron. The cellar's vineyards lies in the Cévennes foothills hence the lovely fresh edge to the juicy ripe fruit.

On the right bank of the Rhône river, terraced vineyards stretch up towards the Cévennes mountains. Here Luc Tallaron and his team of growers nurture high altitude vines, mostly Grenache and Syrah like the rest of the southern Rhône valley. The climate is cooler here, which lends the area's wines their unique freshness, while the persistent Mistral wind ensures small, healthy grapes. A former flying winemaker for us, Luc Tallaron has made wine all over France, Chile, even Venezuela, but for the last 30 years has been settled in his native Ardèche (the western part of southern Rhône). He's certain you'll enjoy this red with all its juicy black fruit that speaks so clearly of its Rhône origins. A great red solo, versatile with food.

"Delightful southern Rhône red from an amazing rugged landscape – the Ardèche. Irrepressible!" Jehan Sacaze
