More information
With their wines acclaimed by critics worldwide, the Diffonty family is a household name in the southern Rhône. Fine wine expert and Rhône fan Robert Parker described the Cuvée du Vatican wines as “full-bodied, powerful, rich and oozing unmistakable provençal character”. Comprising mostly Grenache supported by a little Syrah, the Réserve de l’Abbé is made by Jean-Marc Diffonty with as much care and attention as he affords his top reds. The wine was fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and more traditional wooden vats before blending and bottling. It is sumptuously aromatic with red berry jam and wild herb complexity. Best decanted an hour in advance, the wine is ideal served with lamb and ratatouille or a hearty casserole.
