In 2007 brothers Andrew and Peter-Allan Finlayson founded the now highly regarded Crystallum estate, with their first vintage in 2008. They are third generation winemakers, and sons of the renowned Peter Finlayson. He was a pioneer of Hemel en Aarde Pinot Noir, which today is regarded as one of South Africa’s finest styles of red. Andrew trained as an architect, Peter studied philosophy and economics, but they were soon lured back to wine. Today they focus purely on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Agnes uses grapes from five vineyards in Hemel en Aarde and Overberg, all fermented in barrel, 10% of which are new. Using natural yeasts and minimal interference, The Agnes is a handcrafted labour of love. Serve just cool with fine cuisine.
