Bodegas Ollauri has a winemaking history dating back to 1513 and underground cellars that snake for a kilometre below the village of Ollauri. These ‘calados’ are the oldest in Rioja, with wonderful architectural detail. Even more exciting is the library of bottles they house, with vintages back to 1892. The bodega is proud of its centuries’ old heritage and makes wines worthy of its history. Conde de los Andes is its star wine, made from the fruit of tiny plots of vines at least 40 years old in the high Rioja Alta. Each batch is carefully vinified then blended to make a beautifully balanced wine. Ageing for 14 months in half new French oak lends rounded complexity to this fine red. For drinking now, open early and decant. Perfect with lamb.

"A great addition to our list of Riojas – so rare to find a 2001, and with this much history too!" Beth Willard
