For the last 25 years we’ve been championing the superb Chianti from Paolo Masi’s family estate in Rufina. He combines quality with excellent value. Enjoy the bright cherry fruit intensity and fresh tang of his 2019 – it’s a winner every time.
Paolo Masi is the third generation to be in charge at his family estate in Chianti Rufina, west of Florence. It lies high on a hill overlooking the Argomenna valley and Sieve river and comprises 25 hectares of vines, 15 of olive groves, and tracts of woodland inhabited by wild boar (bad for the vineyard, good for sausages!). Rufina is a prime spot for Sangiovese, praised as early as the 18th century for wine quality. We’ve been buying wines from Paolo since he graduated from university in Florence in the mid 1990s. He’s made many improvements to the property since then, yet his wines are still some of the best value. We love the bright fruit and silky texture of this versatile red – enjoy with roast chicken, veggie kebabs or even seafood.
"Lovely smooth wine. Great easy drinking"
