Cockburn’s is one of the most highly reputed port houses and one of the oldest to boot. They couldn’t have asked for a better vintage to mark their 200th anniversary. The result is an outstanding, 94 point port that will repay a few years’ cellaring.

Renowned port house Cockburn’s was founded in 1815. They marked their bicentenary with a 2015 port from their Quinta dos Canais and Quinta do Vale Coelho vineyards in the Douro Superior. In a press release, owners the Symingtons said: “Rain fell on 15th and 16th September and the best grapes at Quinta dos Canais and Quinta do Vale Coelho were picked from the 21st until 4th October; these were the 13 days when the finest ports were made in the Douro Superior.” Cockburn’s 2015 Bicentenary Vintage Port is a limited release of just 3,500 cases. Expert James Suckling calls it “Very fine and polished with ultra-fine tannins. Medium sweet. Fresh and extremely clean.” This port will be talked about for decades to come. One to hide away until 2025.
