Château du Trignon was one of the first suppliers of Rhône reds to Tony Laithwaite in the 1970s. The wines are no less rich and ravishing today. Gigondas tends to be warm with bramble fruit, herbs and spice. All that and more in this 92 point 2015.

Long standing customers will remember the fabulous southern Rhône wines of Château du Trignon and its lovely owner until he retired in 1987, André Roux. In the 1970s, Tony Laithwaite fell in love with their wines and added the Gigondas, Sablet and Rasteau to the list. The family have in fact owned it since 1896 and it is run today by André's nephew, Pascal. Today, we have brought back the superb 92 point Gigondas. This appellation is less well known than Châteauneuf du Pape, very close by, but its wines share that generosity of ripe black fruit, herbs and spice. It's Trignon's star wine. Praised by Wine Advocate and Suckling and from a top vintage, it's already drinking well and will cellar too. Open early and serve with rich lamb dishes.

"Dark berries and a wealth of ripe, plush, blue-plum and blueberry flavors. Juicy, sumptuous feel" James Suckling
