Château Trillol 2015

Corbieres AOC

In 1990 Bordeaux's famous Sichel family bought this small Corbières estate. They fell in love with the wonderful rugged scenery and its sense of history. Since then, they've replanted, expanded and fine tuned. Their 2015 is ripe, mellow and peppery.

A real taste of southern France, authentic Corbières, but with Bordeaux elegance! That is partly due to the high altitude of its beautiful, remote vineyards (they lie at 400m) and also thanks to the owners of the property. The Sichel family are better known as owners of Bordeaux's top flight Châteaux Palmer and Angludet. However, as Alexander Sichel wrote, "My grandfather fell in love with this place 30 years ago. Everything here appealed to him: the terroir, the beauty of the place, its history, its authenticity – and the bold idea of making outstanding wines. My father and uncles have pursued his dream." They have 40 hectares of vines now in top areas Termenès and Quéribus, the high altitude of which lends elegance to the wine. A top buy.

"Fabulous, elegant, authentic Corbières from high up vineyards, crafted by Bordeaux's Sichel family" Mark Hoddy
