Château Toudenac is a tiny family estate in Saint Magne de Castillon. It’s just down the road from famous Saint-Emilion, and its wines offer the same silky, Merlot rich fruit, but at a very smart price indeed. Winemaker Yohan Aubert is the newest generation of his family to continue their 250-year tradition of making wines at the property. Unlike many classifications, 'Supérieur' isn’t inherited. It has to be earned every year, and only the finer, more polished and concentrated clarets qualify. The 2015 from this estate was awarded a 'Best Buy' and 88 Points by Wine Enthusiast and this follow on vintage is equally rich and appealing. It makes fine drinking now, but there's no hurry. Enjoy with roast meats or a rich veggie Irish stew.
