Château Thieuley Cuvée Francis Courselle 2011

Bordeaux AOC

Estate owners Sylvie and Marie Courselle are also the nieces of our chief winemaker Jean-Marc Sauboua. They crafted this rich white from old vine Sauvignon (Blanc and Gris) and Sémillon, oak fermenting it to lend richness to the intense citrus fruit.

Head of all our winemaking projects is Haut-Brion trained Jean-Marc Sauboua. Great winemaking runs in the family and not surprisingly his nieces Sylvie and Marie Courselle are also trained in this field - they've worked at Spain's prestigious Chivite and the Languedoc’s prized Domaine L’Hortus. They now run the family’s Château Thieuley, where they made this special white for us. It’s a tribute to their dad, Francis, who was key in modernising Bordeaux’s white wines and passed his skill and passion onto his daughters and JMS. Using old, low yield, estate grapes – Sauvignon Blanc, along with spicier Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon – fermented in new oak, this white has a creamy edge to its honeyed lemon fruit. Perfect with sauced white meats.
