Winemaking runs in the Courselle family. Sylvie and Marie Courselle’s father, Francis, was key in revolutionising Bordeaux whites in the 1970s. His nephew, our winemaker Jean-Marc Sauboua, is another mover and shaker, winning Trophies for his Bordeaux. Now Francis’ daughters are showing their talent at Château Thieuley. Before settling in Bordeaux they gained experience working at the prestigious Chivite in Spain and the Languedoc’s prized Domaine de l’Hortus. Using old, low yield, estate grapes – Sauvignon Blanc, along with richer, spicier Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon – fermented mostly in stainless steel vats, with 15% in oak, and all aged on its less, this white has a creamy edge to its intense citrus fruit. Ideal with sauced white meats.

"Apple blossom and citrus fruit, the oak nicely integrated. Bruised apple with pear" Neal Martin
