Jancis Robinson MW said optimists are already calling 2015 the best vintage since 2010. With over five years' bottle ageing, this old-vine Merlot Cabernet blend is rich with black cherry fruit and an elegant finish. No surprise it won Gold.

Tucked away in the Entre Deux Mers lies the sleepy town of Cazaugitat, known locally as the Garden of Eden for its natural beauty. In this peaceful, idyllic setting resides Château Tarin, a family owned domaine since 1984. The masters behind this Gold medal winner are the talented Luc Lafaye and Chantal Monocombe, both fifth generation winemakers, so wine runs to deep to their core. This elegant, age worthy claret uses grapes harvested from old vines, and blessed by an excellent vintage, which Decanter referred to as a victory! Now beautifully mature, with silky, well integrated tannins, this mellow claret has notes of dusty black cherry, held in place by fine acidity and a long, seductive finish. Excellent with lamb skewers or chicken.
