Château St Georges Côte Pavie 2012

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru AOC

One of the best value wines Bordeaux has to offer, we are thrilled to have an allocation of this prestigious Saint Emilion from Château Saint Georges Côte Pavie. It’s a fabulous kirsch and blackcurrant red from “a great terroir” (erobertparker.com).

Steven Spurrier of Decanter Magazine wrote of the 2012s: “The word ‘cassis’ appears all over my notes to describe the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon fruitiness.” Robert Parker rated the vintage “Outstanding. Early maturing and accessible.” All the more reason to snap up this Château Saint Georges Côte Pavie. It’s one of Saint Emilion’s prestigious Grand Cru Classé estates, owned by the Masson family since 1873, and with winemaking carefully scrutinised by consultant Alain Vauthier (owner of the appellation’s premier Château Ausone). The vineyards are very well sited – close to Pavie, Ausone and La Gaffelière, and planted on limestone and clay. You’ll find this bold fragrant Merlot and Cabernet Franc red ideal with rack of lamb or roast beef.
