With 26 hectares of prime river bank vines, Château Rauzan Despagne prides itself on its heart of Bordeaux location, with vineyards on fine sand, clay and limestone soils. These lie in the Entre Deux Mers appellation – Bordeaux’s largest region, so named for being between two bodies of water – the rivers Garonne and Dordogne. This part of Bordeaux is renowned for producing good value, supple, fruit forward reds and crisp, dry whites. The Despagne family have been here for many generations and make both styles. This classic red is Merlot based, with added structure from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Here in handy quarter size – an excellent choice with grilled or roasted chicken or pork dishes, or oven baked mushroom risotto.

"Lovely easy drinking, supple fruit Bordeaux. The handy quarter size bottle might not be big enough!" Jean-Marc Sauboua
