Since 1994 Jean-Marie and Sylvie Chardonnier have been owners of this top notch estate in Côtes de Francs. Indeed, it is generally regarded as the finest property in the appellation. Its 12 hectares of all-Merlot vines lie on its highest slopes, on gentle, southfacing slopes. The soil is predominantly clay, which suits Merlot well, bringing out the plump, velvety fruit of this variety. Since 2020 they have been certified organic, which goes to show the lengths the team go to bring out the very best in the vineyards. Batch by batch fermentation and ageing in 30% new oak barrels for a year adds to the complexity and structure of this great wine. Decanter described it as "classic Right Bank Bordeaux that hurtles well beyond expectations."
