Marquis d'Alesme (now Becker) is a very beautiful château, proudly dating back to 1585. For much of the 20th century, it was an underperforming estate, sitting on some of the finest terroir of the Margaux appellation. Some of its vineyards are adjacent to Château Margaux itself. In 2006, Nathalie Perrodo-Samani took ownership, installed a new winemaking team and by 2014, had completed a state-of-the-art cellar too. Despite being one of the smallest Margaux properties, no expense was spared in the new chai – the Perrodo family are aiming for the top. The 2020 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, all aged in 50% new French oak barrels. Decant two hours before, or ideally cellar - this wine will reward your patience.
