Jeb Dunnock lavished praise on this gorgeous claret: “A plump, rounded, sexy beauty that boasts a deep purple color as well as loads of ripe cherry and currant fruits.” The wine gained high scores from many critics worldwide. The history of this superb dates back to 1654, when it was known as La Doys. Christian and Lilian Thieblot made major renovations from 1989, then sold to the Lorenzetti family, who have made even greater improvements. Their efforts were rewarded with the ‘Coupe des Crus Bourgeois’ in 2015. They favour a much larger proportion of Merlot in the wine, which lends it a luscious plump character, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Petit Verdot, all aged in oak, 40% new. Open early, for drinking now or cellar.

"This Saint-Estèphe estate continues to produce a ripe, sexy wine from their 45 hectare vineyard" Jeb Dunnock
