Château La Tour Carnet 2014

Haut-Medoc AOC 4eme Cru Classe

Superb, 91-point Haut-Médoc from the glorious ‘ready now’ 2014 vintage, this claret has luscious fruit and soft tannins. With its high Merlot content, this award winning red is particularly supple and generous. Haut-Médoc to seek out and enjoy.

Château La Tour Carnet has been owned by innovative wine producer Bernard Magrez since 1999. Not only have the vineyards expanded from 44 to 190 hectares in this time, but Bernard has introduced a 100% Merlot Servitude Volontaire (a rare finding in this part of Bordeaux) and championed the white Sauvignon Gris variety in his Bordeaux Blanc. But of course it’s the classic red Haut-Médoc that’s the main event here, and this is a stunner. Tour Carnet was awarded Fourth Growth Cru Classé status in the famous 1855 Classification of Bordeaux, making its red, with its rich rounded palate, one of the elite of the region. 2014 is a drinkers’ vintage, too, providing accessible reds right from the outset. Serve with roast lamb or hearty beef stew.
