Château Haut-Bailly 2017

Pessac-Leognan AOC Grand Cru Classe

One of the top wines of the Graves' prized Pessac Léognan in 2017. This 94-96 Point Haut Bailly was badly hit by frost, but its Grand Vin is a "super-finessed wine that hits all the right notes" (Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com). A gem of the vintage.

This understated beauty showcases just how glorious claret with the perfect balance can be. It shows all the classic Haut-Bailly signature charm here in a red that Antonio Galloni describes as “super-finessed” (Vinous.com). While 2017 was a vintage impacted by April frosts for many parts of Bordeaux (Haut Bailly lost 30% of production overall and yields were down to 28hl/hectare), this 2017 Haut-Bailly is made from the estate’s central, most historic parcels, where the frosts couldn’t permeate. The result is an attractive red that bears the hallmarks of a vintage all about “finesse, perfume and aromatic intensity” (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, RobertParker.com). A further three or four years in bottle will repay patience. Very fine Pessac Léognan.
