Robert Parker, America’s foremost wine critic, writes: “Pomerol produces some of the most expensive, exhilarating and glamorous wines in the world.” Château Chantalouette is the second wine of Château de Sales and both have been owned by same family since 1464. Chantalouette is known for being a good value Pomerol, and the special project of Pomerol’s leading light, Christian Moueix. He brought in Gilles Rey (who also supervises at Mouton Rothschild) to mastermind the vineyards and Jean Claude Berrouet as consultant in the cellar. The wines of Chantalouette are supple and full bodied, good for early drinking, but will cellar well too. 18 months en barriques lends extra complexity, while a light filtration preserves its rich texture.
