Our claret buyer, Jean-Marc, Bordeaux born himself, has an enviable list of contacts. He was first to get the tip off about this exciting wine parcel. It is the last vintage ever to be bottled from this 4th generation Grand Cru estate. Inheritance issues saw the vineyard sold off last year to Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Angélus. The vineyard is so well positioned – at the top of the slope, on pure limestone soils, surrounded by all the very best names of Saint Emilion – everyone was after it. The building itself has stayed in family hands, but its stocks of wines put up for sale. This is where Jean-Marc came in, tried a bottle of the 2014 maturing in the cool cellars and snapped up the lot. Decant 2-3 hours before serving, or cellar.
