Chat with Vinny
From the same team as renowned Calon Ségur and an estate that often performs above its Cru Bourgeois status, this is an elegant Saint Estèphe. With a dense black fruit core, herbal and cigar box nuances and a firm tannic framework, it'll age well.

Formerly known as Capbern Gasqueton, this Cru Bourgeois Saint Estèphe estate, along with 3ème Cru Classé Calon Ségur, was in the Gasqueton family for 10 generations. In 2012, it changed hands and quality has stepped even higher. It lies in one of the finest parts of the appellation, between Phelan Ségur and Meyney, and every aspect is given Grand Cru care. Careful harvesting by hand and ageing in premium oak barriques, two thirds new, and all that winemaking expertise results in exceptional quality. This 2017 vintage has been well reviewed, with critic Neal Martin awarding it 89 – 91 points and saying that Château Capbern “could be one of the must buys of 2017”. Still youthful, yet already appealing, it will benefit from decanting.
