This prestige Champagne, presented in a gift box, should be reserved for a special occasion. It’s from one of the best known Champagne houses in the world, Moët et Chandon, established in 1743. This 2009 is showing a little maturity, complexity and length and will cellar well for a many years yet. Following several vintages when Chardonnay was dominant, Pinot Noir takes the spotlight in 2009. The wine’s controlled power is the very backbone of the vintage and the proportion of Pinot Noir has not been this high since 1996. Hugh Johnson writes that Moët’s vintage wines are “always a good representative of the character of each vintage, yet with that supple, creamy style that runs through the whole Moët range”. Perfect for a special occasion.
