Château Le Bonalguet is a small, family estate in Saint Germain du Puch, between Bordeaux and Saint Emilion. Owned by Agnès and Alexandre Sueur, it has just 13 hectares of vines, nearly all planted to red varieties. Grapes from these make their superb claret which can boast 15 top Gold medals in just four years, 2015 to 2018. On the clay and limestone soils of two hectares, however, they grow white grapes – Sauvignon Blanc, Gris and Sémillon. In 2020, they chose all Sauvignon Blanc, cool fermented and lees aged to make a rich, ripe, orchard fruit white, with bright citrusy finesse. A worthy Gold medal winner, made by their winemaker Gregory dalla Longa. Chill down and enjoy as an apéritif, or with seafood or a spring vegetable risotto.

"This ripe wine from a small family vineyard has a warm feel to it, with rich apple and pear flavors" Roger Voss
