Outstanding Riesling from the sun-blessed slopes of Dambach la Ville in Alsace, a village renowned for this grape. The cuvée was selected above all others in 2017 to be the Riesling of the vintage. Crisp, lime zipped, peachy, dry, with such elegance.

Hospices de Strasbourg has a 500+ year history of making Alsatian wines. Indeed, the cellar still holds a wine from 1472! As the name suggests, the property was once a refuge for pilgrims and the poor, supported by donations from wealthy benefactors. From these beginnings, the Hospices started making wine. In the 1990s, a group of top winemaking families banded together to restore the cellars. Amongst them was the Gisselbrecht family – 300 years in the business – who are responsible for this delicious wine. Each vintage, a blind tasting is held to choose the finest example of each grape from the harvest. The Willy Gisselbrecht Riesling held that honour in 2017, a year that produced a small, but high quality, crop. Delicious now or cellar.
